Find the story
A strong image starts long before the shoot. It starts with deciding what we want people to feel, understand and remember.
At Corners Hub, we begin with the brand. What gives it character? Who are we speaking to? What should this project reveal? These questions help us find a creative direction with a purpose.
For a restaurant, the story might live in the atmosphere around the table. For a hotel, it could be the feeling of arriving somewhere extraordinary. A product might call for a closer look at its craft, texture or place in someone’s everyday life.
That story becomes the starting point for every visual decision.

Build the visual world
Art direction gives the story a visual language. Location, styling, colour, lighting and composition work together to create a recognisable mood.
We explore references from photography, cinema, art and the cultures we encounter. A reference might inspire a lighting treatment, a sense of movement or the relationship between colours. We develop those influences into something that belongs to the brand.
Moodboards make that direction tangible. They help the client and production team understand what we’re creating before we arrive on set.
We also consider how the work will be used. Photography, film and social content need to feel connected, even when their formats and storytelling differ. Planning for those differences early gives the production a coherent direction.

Make room for experimentation
Once the direction is clear, we explore how far we can take it.
We might test a tighter crop, introduce movement into a still image or change the lighting to reveal a different side of the subject. Small adjustments can shift the entire feeling of a frame.
AI can support this stage by helping us visualise a concept or explore variations before production. Our team evaluates what works, what feels relevant and what can translate into the finished piece.
Experimentation needs judgment. We keep returning to the brief: does this choice strengthen the story? Does it feel right for the brand? The ideas worth pursuing are the ones that make the work more distinctive while giving it a clearer purpose.

Bring the direction to life
On set, art direction becomes a shared reference for everyone involved. It guides the styling, lighting, camera work and the details within each scene.
Preparation gives us the confidence to respond to what happens in front of us. A change in natural light, an unplanned gesture or an unexpected reflection can open up a better shot. We stay attentive to those moments while keeping the overall direction consistent.
That attention continues through editing. Image selection, colour, pacing and sound carry the original idea into the final work. We look at how each piece stands on its own and how it belongs within the wider collection.
The finished result should feel like one complete thought: a brand’s story expressed with clarity, character and care.
